Technically, I *am* root for the home team. Weird, huh?
(I need a new pun here, huh...)

Birthday Weekend Recap

The weekend was great!

Friday night, I and as many as I could round up on short notice (I do that every year) went to the "Irish Rogue" and enjoyed their comfy couches and deep-fried foods, along with some beverages to wash it all down with...

Then, a party of 45 or so VH-1 employees showed up to join us (hey, I'm not 19 anymore, so they sent in VH-1 instead of Mtv... I'll celebrate my 40th with the staff of Lifetime, and my 55th will be a quiet evening with the staff of the Weather Channel.)

I thought I was sufficiently coy about saying "I need no gifts", but I appreciated the ones that I got anyway... B&C got me the Seinfeld seasons 1&2, and EZ-E got me a gift certificate from the Virgin store, so I spent my Sunday watching tv, and planning what TV shows I'll purchase and watch next... J&D gave me champaigne which we'll hopefully have an opportunity to enjoy either on New Year's or some night soon in Hastings... I'm thinking of having people over to help decorate the cats soon.

Saturday was Maggie's company holiday party, which was quite swanky, and gave us an opportunity to dress up and act fancy... her team at work won "Team of the Year" at the year-end awards ceremony, and everyone partied like rockstar PHP developers. Or something.

My friends from back home, (now living in St. Louis) were in town, having (no kidding) cocktails at Tavern on the Green, and we met them in their Times Square Hotel after our respective parties and had some desert, coffee and a few more cocktails.

One expensive (but worth it) cab ride home, and we spent Sunday watching the aforementioned TV shows, ordering delivery (lunch and dinner), and being generally lazy.

Life is good.
