Technically, I *am* root for the home team. Weird, huh?
(I need a new pun here, huh...)

Thanksgiving trip

Went back to Iowa for Thanksgiving... a pretty good trip, all in all.

I went out with co-workers and a vendor the night before, drinking my first beers since starting a no-carb diet a couple weeks ago... whew, my tolerance for alcohol has dissappeared. Thus, I woke up very late, and had to bolt for the airport, with no time to pack... I made my plane with 4 minutes to spare, after having not even checking in. I ran straight to security and the gate with no luggage.

I was not about to try flying standby on the day before thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving was at my aunt’s house, and dinner was yummy. (again, first potatoes in a couple of weeks, thank you dr. atkins)

My uncle’s giant dog is pictured here sitting on my sister, Kirsten.

the day after thanksgiving, I went to Des Moines (to buy some more clothes at the mall, since i was travelling with no luggage from my earlier dash to the airport)... while there I picked up a fancy new cameraphone! I got a Sony-Ericsson t610 at the t-mobile store... I’ll be writing up a full fotolog-T610-how-to soon.

Then I went to Cedar Rapids to hang out with my pals Jay and Tommy... good times and Steak’n’Shake (no bun for me) were had by all.

Here’s my inagural cameraphone picture of the “largest truck stop in the world”, on I-80 in eastern Iowa.

On the flight back, I was in first class, front row aisle... I took a couple of pictures of the cockpit, cause it’s cool, and all the gauges and such looked really neat. After landing in Newark, I was pulled aside by two Air Marshalls and questioned, then they had me delete the pictures i’d taken (just the airplane ones)... high drama in Newark! (i pretty much knew i wasn’t supposed to do that, but i didn’t think i was being watched.)

so, sorry, airplane fans, all you get is a picture of an Iowa truck stop.
