So, the soon-to-be-married-to-a-wicked-cool-lady Mike Essl and I went to opening day at Yankees Stadium today. I didn't take my camera, but Mike did, so look for my traditional shots of the infield from where-we-sat soon, as well as at least a couple of silly head shots as well.
Weather? Cold. About 36 degrees F.
Game? Good. Yankees win, 7-3
Mothra? That bitch is toast.
Godzilla (Hideki Matsui) hit a grand slam in his third NYC at-bat, ensuring that he won't have to put up with any of the crap that Giambi had to take last year. The fans in the Bronx love him already. In who-else-cares-about-ryans-fantasy-baseball-team-"the-squids"-news, Mondesi and Ventura did fine, and Almonte let us down for the first time since the league started. Our boys Acevedo and Contreras didn't see action, and I hear that in other league action, the non-yankees squids were troopers, and we gained a lot of points on the cross-office infidels from the non-IT cubicles. (more on what the hell i'm talking about, as well as "what the hell is fantasy baseball about?" in future "i need something to talk about" blog entries.)
Coming soon, photos from this afternoon's game (via Mike), and wild wedding party coverage from Connecticut (thanks to Mike and his previously-mentioned wicked-cool lady.) (aren't I a pip with the parenthesis-and-the-hyphenation?)
