April Status Update

I really need to get back into this blog thing... I've been pretty busy getting ready for baseball (both in the sense that many, many New Yorkers are "getting ready for baseball", but it's also my job, so there's the added element of "if you're not ready for baseball, you're gonna get canned, pal", so there's that.

Anyhoo, I think I'm ready to start writing again, but I'll quickly catch people up:

Rebuilt/migrated datacenter for work... that took a couple of months of 100-hour weeks, and hopefully that'll translate to a lot of make-up vacation time (riiiight.) Regardless, everything has worked out well (knock, knock), and some last-minute tweaks we made right before opening day have the site absolutely screaming, and we're setting site-traffic records without breaking a sweat. We spent a lot of opening week sitting in our cube watching games that are supposed to be blacked-out on the new mlb.tv thing. We can watch because we actually have "the express written consent of Major League Baseball".

Maggie's hanging in Seattle, teaching herself to cook, and apparently doing really cool things at AmazoRn that she's not allowed to tell me about. I'm going to withhold the video-streaming Yankees goodness until she coughs up the details. For more on Maggie, go read her blog for pete's sake.

Mom wrote... (hi mom!)... both my sisters are currently in jail (whoa.) but hopefully not for long. The rest of the family is fine, and maybe I'll get home for Easter... more time off!

We're at war... that's all I'll say about that for now.

Rudy's blogging! see his blog or his fotolog for more info.

I'm kind of sick, so I literally spent the entire day in a bed full of cats (well, two) watching baseball. Good times. Yankees lose a tough one to the DevilRays, (fix. the. bullpen.), but the Sox lose as well, so all's good. I have a couple of tickets to the Yankees' home opener for Monday at 1pm, and I just checked the weather. It's supposed to SNOW. Yeesh.

I'm taking Mike to the game Monday. He's getting married on Saturday, so I figure he needs the relaxation before he goes into full wedding-week mode. Maggie's flying in very early Saturday morning, and I'm gonna pick her up in the rental car, and then we'll head to Connecticut.

Mike's bachelor party was last weekend. Like the war, that's all I'll say about that.

My cats are extraordinarly cute. Brutus has taken up residence on top of the home entertainment stack. See photo.

That's all for now. Look for Yankees photos soon.
