i'm not sure if you tried to get ahold of me last weekend... i've been
working nearly constantly in our weehawken datacenter the last week, with
occasional trips home to literally cat-nap and feed the critters. The cats are
a smash hit with all my friends, and also my cleaning lady... ("very friendly!!",
she raved in a note).
brutus is sleeping in my bed every night now, and sappho hops up and
snuggles a bit, then retreats to the bedside chair where she can keep an
eye on me, while avoiding rustling covers and feet. They know when it's
bedtime, and when i turn off the living room lights, they run and get good
spots in the bed before i can get there.
Sappho's also jumped on my shoulders twice! once when i was putting on
shoes, and once when i was kneeling to talk to her. so cute!
monday night, i got home, and they'd somehow gotten to the topmost shelf
in my apartment, dragged the bag of catnip down, tore it apart, and spread
a thin layer of nip over my ENTIRE living room, the couch, much of the
kitchen, and entry hallway. Then they'd rolled around in it all day, and
generally had a ball. they've still got some of it in their fur, three
days after, after i brushed as much of it out of them as i could. it's a
little like petting a bale of oregano.
I swept up as much as i could, but there's still catnip in most nooks and
crannies of my living room, so they're still pretty happy. I've got a
handheld vaccuum, but haven't had time to use it, and i figure i'll let
them continue getting used to their new house awhile before i freak them
out with the dustbuster.
we're having a great time! the webpage at
http://www.ryan.net/brutus_and_sappho/ continues to be updated, although
the photos aren't in any kind of chronological order there, so the newer
ones are mixed in with the old. I'll keep updating that, and probably
organize things there better when i get a chance.
if you want to visit them this weekend, shoot me an email... talk to you
later. Maggie's visiting, so they'll be being put through their paces. We may
even go shopping for one of those carpeted cat-towers.
