Tribeca Luther King Jersey Accountants

I encountered at least three baffling things today, that I just don't get:

1) Radio commercial playing in the magazine store downstairs, while i was buying gatorade... advertising a bar in some outer suburb (new jersey, i think...) called "tribeca". But it's not *in* tribeca, it's just *called* that.

That's kind of like having a bar in Oakland called "Haight-Asbury".

2) The very next radio commercial advertising *another* club out in Jersey (i'm really not a jersey-hater... their clubs are apparently run by shmoes, however)... this one told us "offices and schools are closed on monday, so come out sunday for our Martin Luther King Day Bash!"

Two things here.

First, he's Martin Luther King JUNIOR, and second, um... "I have a dream that all God's children can enjoy two-for-one boysenberry kamakazies, and the phattest dance floor in Secacus?" I think not.

3) Whilst using the restroom facilities in our Datacenter facility in Weehawken (yes, i guess this whole entry is me shitting on, or in this case, *in*, Jersey), I noticed that someone had been doing math, by which i mean multi-column addition and long division, in pen, on the bathroom stall. Not just a little, but a couple of page-equivalents of figures.

It occurs to me that i've seen this before, too... I can't remember where, though... maybe truck-stops. I've also seen construction guys do math on walls they knew were going to be painted later, or on walls they were just to important to give a crap about.

Do these guys not have the "back of the envelope" that I was literally encouraged to use in engineering school? When i think of the sums they came up with, and that they were in the loo when they calculated them, I shudder to imagine *what* they were counting.

Two blocks away from where I'm staying in Seattle there's a restaurant (bar?) called 'Brooklyn'.

You should put a link to cat pictures on the right under "Links" so that when the entry with a link to cat pictures is gone, I can still easily look at them. Yay, kitties! :)
