I made it to "Life Scout", one step below "Eagle" before I decided that most of the guys in my scout troop were assholes.
I'm pleased to learn that I could earn a lot of these today (yeah, as a 34 year old man, so?!?) without breaking a sweat.
(visit that link... the graphics are kind of unintentionally awesome)
The feeling is much like the pleasure I feel when I meet someone who's recently graduated with a degree in a field related to my own from an expensive school (I dinked around in college and bailed out of a state school to start working as an engineer), and I realize I know WAY more than them.
If you've achived something, be proud of it, by all means. But just 'cause I haven't skiied the K12 doesn't mean I couldn't.
Yes, I realize this attitude makes me kind of a dick. It's a guilty pleasure, and I consider it my teeny-tiny personal revenge against the jerks from Winterset Troop 151, circa 1982.
