Toolmaker, equip thyself

I'm sitting in the home office, listening to Christmas Music and the sounds of Maggie cooking all KINDS of stuff.

I'm buttoning up all the aftermath stuff from yesterday's network catastrophe at work (I'm on call all holiday week... that's my present to the team this year, I guess). After that, I need to weatherstrip and seal the guest bedroom windows, do some handywork and gift wrapping in the garage. Our house is grinding away in "hands-on" mode.

One of the blogs I read a lot just popped up a new entry in my RSS reader, and a sentence jumped out at me:

"One of the things that's so cool about blacksmithing is the fact that most artisan blacksmiths start by making their own tools.

...I LOVE that. Now I want to be a blacksmith.

Not really. I just want to hang a sign above my desks (home and work) saying "Work like a blacksmith".
